POSITION PURPOSE
The Clinical Nurse Educator - Lead is a nurse who assesses, promotes, and contributes to the quality of healthcare administered to patients and their support systems throughout the health-illness continuum by providing staff development expertise as an educator, consultant, facilitator, change agent, role model, and leader. The Clinical Nurse Educator - Lead supports the development of bedside nurses and fosters empowerment through knowledge to achieve excellence through the delivery of evidence-based nursing practice. The Clinical Nurse Educator – Lead provides clinical leadership through role-modeling and professional communication; conducts learning needs assessments using a variety of strategic tools; and incorporates principles of adult learning in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of education programs provided to the clinical staff.SITE(S)

The physical, technical and cognitive ability, as well as the manual dexterity, to use patient care equipment. The ability to incorporate adult learning principles into the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of educational programs. The ability to read, write, hear, speak and comprehend the English language. Demonstrates a high degree of critical thinking and sound judgment with respect to the patient care process. Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Word and Power Point and working knowledge of Publisher, Visio and Excel programs.PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Effectively communicate, interact, and collaborate with leadership, patients, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team. Evaluate learning needs, develop educational programs, present educational offerings, and evaluate the effectiveness of the programs provided by the Education Department. Utilize evidence-based best practice guidelines, event data, quality metrics, and regulatory requirements to identify and meet learning needs within the organization. Collaborate with unit leadership and the Clinical Education Team to develop, implement, and lead the routine review of orientation plans for clinical staff to ensure that they incorporate appropriate programs based upon the patient population, quality metrics, event data, and regulatory requirements. Collaborate with unit leadership and the Clinical Education Team to develop, implement, and lead the routine review of the annual education plan for clinical staff to ensure that it incorporates appropriate programs based upon the patient population, quality metrics, event data, and regulatory requirements. Develop orientation and educational programs and experiences that assure clinical staff maintain competence in their role. Oversee the scheduling and provision of clinical staff orientation. Effectively lead teams, present educational programs, creatively solve problems, and function independently in a complex healthcare environment. Develop excellence in practice by mentoring Clinical Educators to enhance the educational programs and experiences provided. Demonstrate competence in the performance of clinical skills and techniques, and functions within the Wisconsin Nurse Practice Act and hospital/nursing policy.
