Hours: 7:00am - 5:00pm; (4) 10 hour days

General Summary

Provides care, assessment and pre-procedural and follow up instruction and care to patients in the Electrophysiology Laboratory.

Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

Acts as an assistant to the physician during procedures and prepares or supervises the preparation of sterile trays, instruments, supplies and equipment necessary for procedures. Is familiar with variations in the preparations for different procedures and/or physicians.Sutures veins and skin incisions. Applies manual pressure to venous and arteriotomy sites while assessing circulatory status and hemostasis.Demonstrates proficiency in venipuncture, intravenous therapy and maintenance techniques.Administers medications as ordered by the physician.Provides emergency care as indicated and supported by protocols, training and experience.Participates in the pacemaker clinic, including the programming of permanent pacemakers.Provides clinical oversight and direction for EKG Technicians in the performance of transtelephonic pacemaker checks.

Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops.Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.

Qualifications

Minimum Education:

Associates Degree Required

Work Experience:

2 years Experience in cardiology, electrophysiology, or EKG and physiologic monitoring. Required

Licenses:

Licensed Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required orRegistered Nurse Multi State License Upon Hire Required andAdvanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire Required andBasic Life Support Upon Hire Required
