We are now accepting applications for New Grads for the Emergency Department Academy. The Academy will start March 2025.
Crouse Hospital's Emergency Department Nursing Academy offers a foundation for excellence and learning. We provide an in-depth twelve month orientation to the challenges and rewards of nursing practice in the Emergency Department.
The Academy experience includes:
o Emergency Department shadowing experience with an ED RN
o Foundational Med Surg orientation to provide baseline nursing skills
o Online learning modules developed by the Emergency Nurses Association
o Wide variety of learning experiences to compliment ENA modules
o Six month ED Orientation with skilled ED preceptors and educators
o Ongoing feedback and evaluation
Education/Experience Requirements
Required:
Graduate of an accredited associate degree*A Graduate Nurse (GN) must complete NCLEX within 120 days of employment.
Letter of recommendation from a clinical instructor or current manager.Preferred:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program or higher degree*Bachelor’s degree required within 8 years of being hired or those licensed after 2017.
Licensure/Certification Requirements
Required:
Current New York State licensure as a Registered Nurse Basic Life Support (BLS) Completion of Residency Syllabus in timeframe provided upon hire.Critical Care Nursing Requirements
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 1 yearPreferred:
Certification in a specialty area.
