Registered Nurse Emergency Department Observation

Description:

At St. Joseph’s Health the Emergency Department records more than 70,000 patient visits a year.  As A community-centered emergency department, it offers a wide range of medical services for people of all ages.  The Registered Nurse Emergency Department Observation Unit is a fast-paced short stay acute unit, admission flex with an expected 24-48-hour length of stay who works collaboratively with the ED and inpatient teams to assess, monitor, and manage patients who do not meet full admission criteria but need further evaluation before discharge.

What you will do:  

Perform initial and ongoing assessments, including vital signs, pain levels, and neurological status.  Monitor patients for changes in condition and escalate care as needed

Therapeutic nursing interventions, hands on skills including class II telemetry monitoring, POCT, IV Placement, and venipunctures. Coordinate patient education, goal setting, care planning, multidisciplinary care team coordination, and discharge planning.

Collaborative team approach using SNAP rounding daily with interdisciplinary team to ensure patients are on track with goals, patients are progressing, and needs are met.

Minimum Qualifications:  

Education: Graduate of an accredited college or university affiliated nursing program.  BSN graduate preferred.

Licensure: Current Licensure as a Registered Nurse RN in New York.

Certification: BLS & ACLS

Experience: Minimum of 2 years clinical experience Med/Surg or Acute Care setting

Work Schedule:  Full time – 36 Night Shift, 7p-7:30a, Every other Weekend/Holiday

Pay Range:  $35.145 - $44.75

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
