Position Summary: Provides Employee Health Office (EHO) services and administers programs, policies, and procedures for The Guthrie Clinic (TGC) and Guthrie Medical Group (GMG) providers, employees, students, and volunteers. The Employee Health Registered Nurse (EHO RN) possesses excellent communication skills; is skillful in mentoring and teaching; and may participate on committees or projects. The EHO RN utilizes a holistic system approach to protect and promote client wellness and safety in the physiological, psychological, social-cultural, developmental, and spiritual domains. Nursing interventions are interdisciplinary, age specific, and directed toward optimum wellness. Education, License, & Certification: The RN must be a registered nurse currently licensed by both Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing and New York State Board Of Nursing. The EHO RN must complete Drug Screening Certification for DOT and Non-DOT, Breath Alcohol Certification, CPR, and Respirator Fit Test Certification within six months of employment. Hearing Conservation Certification will be completed by one year of employment. Bachelor’s degree is preferred. POPULATION SERVED The RN will serve all Guthrie Employee’s including but not limited to: providers, students, employees, and volunteers at various locations across the Guthrie system. EXPERIENCE The EHO RN will have 2-3 years’ experience is preferred in an equivalent setting wherein independent judgement was required in assessing patient conditions and determined. The EHO RN will demonstrate competence in the following areas: + Ability to problem solve complex problems + The RN will have the ability to self-reflection on skills and attributes with the ability to identify strength and weakness for ongoing knowledge and skill improvement. + The RN will have the ability to develop and implement comprehensive Employee Health programs and assist in policy development and revision. + The RN will have the ability to manage independent departmental functions. + The RN will have excellent communication and collaboration skills. + The RN will have computer skills and previous Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience. + The RN will be able to work flexible hours, which may include days, nights, holidays, weekends, and on-call. + The RN must demonstrate leadership skills that contribute to a positive team work environment, effective communication skills, and excellent critical thinking skills. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS + Demonstrates competency in performance of nursing skills and procedures relative to EHO including: Performance Levels + Assuring compliance with all standards set by JCAHO, PA & NY Department of Health (DOH), and other relevant regulatory bodies. + Administers and participates in updating department policies and procedures. + Vaccine administration-injections including IM, SQ, ID per current practice guidelines. + Ensures immunization requirements are met for all entities to maintain compliance with DOH, CDC, JCAHO, and OSHA while practicing within the scope of current policies and procedures of the EHO. + Ensure PPD administration, evaluation, and compliance with for Guthrie Corning Hospital (GCH) employees, Big Flats Same Day Surgery Employees, and all employees who travel to the NYS Sites or are credentialed in areas that an annual PPD is required (Home Health Etc.). + Assist with the Annual Influenza Program ensuring policy compliance throughout all Guthrie Organization. + Competent and certified in DOT, Non-DOT, Reasonable Suspicion, and Post Accident urine drug and breath alcohol collection and policy. + Visual acuity testing including peripheral vision. + Certified and competent in hearing testing including the forced whisper and administer testing when required. + Competent in bloodborne pathogen exposure work-up and follow-up criteria including all components of the policy. Ensures HIV counseling, post exposure counseling (includes necessary follow-up), schedules follow-up testing, coordinates treatment prophylaxis, coordinates appointments with infectious disease, and ensure the appropriate follow-up occurs. + Proficient phlebotomy skills, specimen handling, N95 Respirator Fit Testing, and PAPR instructions. + Demonstrates the ability to follow policies and complete annual training. + Collecting accurate vital signs and other required demographic information. + Ensure the appropriate charge entry occurs. + Order Supplies as designed by the Department Manager. + Ensures complete and records priot to submitting the information to the health care provider. + Maintains complete, accurate, up to date, medical records on all employees that is compliant with all regulatory agencies. + Ensures complete and accurate documentation, assessment, and referral of any injured employee in the absence of the Employee Health Medical Provider. + Review work related injury reports and appropriately documents the services provided to the injured employee in the designated database (example: ReadySet). + Performs respiratory fit testing to assigned locations across the Guthrie System. + NY State Employees: Notification and tracking employee’s annual health assessments. Schedule appointments for annual health assessments, PPD, and annual immunization review as designated by policy. Notify the EHO department manager of all employees who are not complaint in responding to your communication efforts after the second employee contact. Document the employee compliance communication via email return receipt. + (Corning Hospital) Schedule employees who report a musculoskeletal injury to attend Education and Prevention class per policy. + Arrange employee return to work physical exams with Guthrie Occupational Medicine Department per policy. Any employee who has been out of work for an extended period of time (per policy) will need a return to work physical prior returning to work. + Enter data in the Employee Health Data Base. + Completes and tracks annual surveillance programs (annual blood work and other required testing (prior to appointment), physicals, form completion (prior to physical), and scheduling physicals). + Travelers/students: Reviews immunizations, physical records, and ensures all institutional requirements are met prior to starting work. + Keep work areas clean and free from clutter. + Contributes ideas and suggestions and participates in activities that improve systems, processes, regulatory compliance, and services for patients, employees, and customers. + Closely monitor RL Solutions and document work exposure and injury follow up and plan of care. 2. Continuously improves processes and services that support patient/employee care, education, and research. Evaluation: The EHO RN evaluates progress toward the attainment of employee and departmental goals and outcomes. + Conducts ongoing evaluations which are holistic, systematic and criterion based, with effective collaboration. + Works with the employee and interprofessional team to determine the employee-centeredness, effectiveness, efficiency, safety, timeliness and equitability of the plan and attainment of outcomes. + Communicates the evaluation and conclusion of employee plan of care to the employee and other key stakeholders. + Documents the results of the outcomes. 9.
