Summary:
The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) functions as first assistant to the operating surgeon during surgery and works in collaboration with the healthcare team to provide comprehensive nursing care and management through all phases of perioperative care. Supervision is not a regular responsibility of this class, although consultative and instructional guidance is provided to nursing and other health care professionals in the area of expertise. Work is done under the general supervision of a higher-level nursing or healthcare professional. Does related work as required. Experience:
Two years’ perioperative nursing experience, Certified Nurse in Operating Room (CNOR) certification from the Competency & Credentialing Institute (CCI), Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) certification from National Assistant at Surgery Certification (NASC), and two years’ perioperative nursing experience.
