The Veterans Home at Holyoke is seeking nursing professionals for our Registered Nurse I (RN) position. The RN I is the first level in the series and is responsible for providing overall exceptional patient driven care and support to veterans in order to effectively evaluate medications and/or treatment regimens. The role will support, educate, direct and guide the performance of LPN, CNA and administrative staff, while communicating information in a clear and constructive manner to patients and their families.
Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):
Provide exceptional nursing care and oversight by assessing health care needs to ensure the prevention of illness and the promotion of health maintenanceDispense medications and perform treatments in compliance with policy and proceduresCollect health and status data for individualsEnsure information is documented, communicated, and made readily accessibleIdentify acute problems and initiate intervention or referrals for needed medical services, confirming that follow-up care is pursuedSupport nursing leadership and training for staff; serve as an advocate to ensure individuals receive appropriate health care treatment, health education, and other health related servicesServe as a first responder for behavioral or medical crisis situationsSupport and respond to emergency situations involving serve and violent behavior Maintain individual records and files; performs data entry of medical informationRequired Qualifications:
Knowledge of standard nursing policies, procedures, methods and techniquesAbilityto maintain accurate records and exercise discretion in handling confidential informationPreferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintainrespectful, caring, tolerant, ethical, and empowering professionalrelationships with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilitiesFamiliarity with safety practices and medical terminology/abbreviationsAptitude to transcribe, read and comprehend the English languageSchedule:
There are full time (40 hours per week) and part time (24 or 32 hours per week) positions available, alternating holidays and weekends.
The shifts are:
1st Shift (7:00AM to 3:30PM)2nd Shift (3:00PM to 11:30PM) (Priority Hiring)3rd Shift (11:15PM to 7:15AM)Base Salary does not include shift differentialsFlex days off and every other weekendSchedule and days off are based on the operational needs of the facilityThis is a 24 hour/7 days a week facility - the Veterans Home at Holyoke requires employees in this position to be able to perform mandatory overtime when circumstances dictate the needAgency Mission:
