Description:

In this role, the GI Lab Registered Nurse utilizes current nursing practices to provide patient care while focusing on the needs of the patient and exemplifying the service excellence goals of care, concern, respect and cooperation. As a contributing member of the LUHS health care team, develops and provides a comprehensive plan of care for assigned patients. Recognizes and consistently applies knowledge of Loyola's 14 Magnet Forces.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

Professional Development Activities - Demonstrates accountability for professional growth and job performance by seeking opportunities to enhance job skills and knowledge. Completes competencies and learning modules on time.

Patient Care & Assessment - Clarifies and implements orders from physician, physician assistant and/or advance practice nurse by administering medications and performing treatments and testing as prescribed by the physician and documents accordingly. Recognizes symptoms and establishes priorities consistent with patient's condition.

Under the supervision of a radiologist, performs pre, intra, and post-procedure care. Maintains patient safety throughout the continuum of care. Is competent to provide conscious sedation and assess the stability of a patient. Documents ongoing assessments of the patient's physical and emotional status in order to address patient needs appropriately. Demonstrates mastery of required unit-based competencies and orientation goals.

Scheduling, Education & Assessment - Obtains information from patient and/or family to develop an appropriate patient educational plan.

Formulates implements and continually revises patient plan of care based on ongoing assessment of the patient, information acquired from patient’s database, and resources within the medical center Collaborates with other members of the health care team to promote effective patient care. Coordinates care promote effective patient care.

Coordinates care within a multi-disciplinary team by performing patient assessments to determine the level of care necessary. Interfaces with multiple service lines to ensure all parties are aware and available for specific care requirements. Provides pre and post procedure instructions and patient education.

Communication - Performs required documentation and communicates in a competent and effective manner to patients, family members, co-workers and physicians. Maintains strict confidentiality of patient, employee and department information to ensure patient rights.

Licensure/Certifications

Required:

ACLS (Advanced Cardio Life Support Certified)

CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation)

Current Registered Nurse License State of Illinois

Responsible for developing and maintaining an environment of service excellence as outlined in the Service Excellence standards.

Position Requirements

Required:

Bachelor's Degree

Specify Degree(s): Nursing

Ability to work in a fast-pace environment

On-Call required/rotating once a week

Preferred:

1-2 years of previous Critical Care RN experience, specifically in ICU

Prefer RN's have a background in Procedural Nursing in GI Lab, Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology or Electrophysiology Lab

Preferred:

PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

CRN (Certified Radiology Nurse)

BSN Pay Range: $34.76 - $57.06 per hour
ADN Pay Range: $32.31 - $50.71 per hour
Actual compensation will fall within the range but may vary based on factors such as experience, qualifications, education, location, licensure, certification requirements, and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles.
