Works under the supervision of the Unit Manager/Director to assess, plan, implement, evaluate, teach, and supervise patient care on a nursing unit. The Lactation Consultant is responsible for the overall management of the Lactation and Education Program. The consultant coordinates the breast pump rentals, education classes, support groups and provides current education to the ante-partum and post-partum mothers, staff, providers, and the community. The consultant provides direct patient care and works collaboratively with other team members, the providers, and the patient/family to achieve optimal patient outcomes. Creates an environment that supports the nursing professional practice model. Contributes to the mission and vision of Holzer Health System as well as meeting the requirements of corporate compliance, JCAHO, and other regulatory or accrediting agencies.

Education, Work Experience and Licensure

1. Minimum of 5 years nursing experience with demonstrated leadership and clinical skills required.

2. Holds current licensure in the State of Ohio as RN

3. BSN preferred either nursing or healthcare related

4. IBCLC- Required

A. ACLS – Recommended (See specific unit requirements)
