Position Summary:

Direct patient care for patients in crisis in the Adult In-Patient Mental Health UnitsResponsible and accountable for decisions and actions in the provision and management of nursing care for patientsInternal employees who believe they possess the necessary qualifications and experience for this position and who have been in their current position for at least six (6) months are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications:      

Graduate of a recognized College or School of Nursing and preferably hold a BSc.N Nursing degree

Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) or currently meet the eligibility criteria to register in good standing in the Temporary Class or General Class with the CNO.

Registered in good standing with the College of Nurses of OntarioCurrent In-Patient and/or Out-Patient Mental Health experience requiredSound knowledge of mental health disorders, DSM IVR classifications and pertinent legislationSound knowledge of mental status evaluations, psychosocial assessments, suicide risk assessments, psychiatric history taking, and discharge planning requiredCNA Mental Health Certification required and/or willingness to completeEffective interpersonal, organizational and clinical skills, with knowledge of evidence based practices in the assessment and treatment of mental health conditionsAbility to respond and adapt to rapidly changing prioritiesCommitment to reflective practiceAbility to work collaboratively within a diverse multi-professional teamPositive work and attendance record
