Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Registered Nurse to join our team!

 

JOB SUMMARY:

The IV Infusion Nurse is responsible for implementing the operational policies for the Department, standing as a first line of authority in unit problem solving, and acting as a liaison between the IV Clinic and the Program Director & Management. Facilitates and demonstrates cooperative behavior with colleagues and supervisors at all times. He/she is expected to function as a “working nurse,” with a focus on providing quality patient care and adhering to the rigid standards of practice for an Infusion Center. He/she will also help when asked, to establish policies & procedures for the clinic items outlined in the job description of a Nurse, as well as any supervisory tasks as detailed below.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the IV department on the days scheduled to work. Responsible to ensure all scheduled shifts (including weekend & after hours) are filled as agreed and are based on adequacy and qualifications of staff as related to patient acuity, technological needs, competency and age specific requirements. Manage productivity for his/her shift. Has frequent and timely interaction with physicians, nursing staff, other departments, patients and their families. Must have the sensitivity, maturity and ability to communicate clearly and concisely while maintaining an open line of effective communication with patients and other health care team members. Responsible to ensure patient satisfaction.  Responsible to identify patient complaints, assist in resolving and then reporting to management. Create and foster a positive environment by being (compassionate, professional, and communicative). Ensures unit compliance of safety policies; including emergency procedures, supplies and equipment. Assume additional duties (within level of competence) as assigned by Department Supervisor. Demonstrate a strong sense of ownership for the development. Ability to revise plan of care as indicated by the patient’s response to treatment and evaluate for effectiveness. Knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their clinical condition. Follow the five (5) medication rights and reduce the potential for medication errors. Demonstrates ability to perform treatments and provide services within scope of practice. Follows all prescribed therapies as prescribed by Doctor. Fills all therapies exactly as prescribed by Doctor. Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity. Interacts professionally with patient/family and involves patient/family in the formation of the plan of care. Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors. Consults other departments, i.e. Pharmacy, Lab as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs. Communicates appropriately and clearly to physicians. Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments. Documentation must meet current standards and policies. Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.  Demonstrates and ability to be flexible, organized and function under stressful situations. Adheres to dress code; appearance is neat and clean. Completes annual education requirements. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Reports to work on time and as scheduled. Wears identification while on duty, uses computerized punch time system correctly. Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner. Actively participates in performance and quality improvement activities. Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical business practices.
