Registered Nurse New Graduate Medical Surgical Pediatrics
**Job Description:** The Nursing Graduate works under direct line-of-sight supervision of the Registered Nurse in the clinical setting and participates appropriately in the patient care delivery process. The incumbent also orients to the RN assignment, excluding independent nursing care. This position may participate in medication administration under the direction and supervision of the licensed RN. **Unit Description:** + The Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics unit cares for a wide variety of patients, both young and old. + The Medical/Surgical/Pediatrics unit cares for adult patients who have a wide variety of diagnoses. These may include surgical procedures such as orthopedics, urologic, general surgery, and ENT surgery. They may also include patients with heart failure, pneumonia, sepsis, and other general medical disease processes. + We also care for trauma patients with a wide variety of injuries, such as head injuries and chest injuries requiring chest tubes. + Our Pediatrics unit cares for infants and children who need care for respiratory illnesses, recovery from surgical procedures, and GI illnesses. + Our standard staffing ratio for adults is 5 patients to one nurse. For Pediatrics, the ratio is 3 or 4 patients to one nurse, depending on illness severity. **Position Details** + **Benefits Eligible:** Yes + **Shift Details:** Full Time, 36 hours/week, Variable shifts + **Department:** Medical/ Surgical/Pediatrics + **Primary Location:** Logan Regional Hospital. **RNs with less than 12 months of working experience as an RN prior to joining Intermountain must obtain their BSN within five years of their start date. Minimum Qualifications: **New Grad RN - Unlicensed** _Entry Pay: $30.87_ + Successful completion of a recognized and accredited Nursing/RN education program (education will be verified). **Registered Nurse - Licensed** _Entry Pay: $34.19_ + Current RN License in state of practice. **Licensed and Unlicensed RN** + Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for healthcare providers. + Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. + Pediatrics experience would be a great plus! The New Grad RN position is for those who have graduated nursing school and not yet taken their NCLEX or RN’s with less than one year of RN experience. Those hired as a New Grad RN are required for have transcripts showing graduation from nursing school and will work under a licensed RN until they pass boards and their RN license can be verified. In conjunction with working on this unit, New Grad RNs attend Intermountain’s one-year nurse residency program. The nurse residency program supports New Grad RNs in their transition from classroom to caregiver through 72 paid clinical hours, webinars, simulations, case studies, and quarterly in person meetings. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc. - and - Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items. - and - Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment. This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items.
