Summary

UNIT SUMMARY: The Stroke Medical Unit is a 40-bed unit that specializes in the care of geriatric patients and offers an interdisciplinary approach to respiratory care. The Stroke Medical Unit is a designated stroke unit. Staff members must utilize strong organizational and leadership skills to assess patient status, implement clinical nursing interventions to modify symptoms, and develop and implement patient care plans to enhance and improve outcomes. Special training on how to care for patients on vents and how to respond to different alarms on the unit is required.   JOB SUMMARY: As a member of the patient care team, the RN provides safe, age-appropriate patient care and functions as an advisor and resource for patients and their families.    REQUIREMENTS: Basic professional knowledge; equivalent to a Bachelor's degree, working knowledge of theory and practice within a specialized field. RN Diploma with relevant experience also accepted. Less than 1 year of experience. Maryland Registered Nurse License, American Heart Association CPR Certification
