The Surgery OR RN, a perioperative registered nurse, provides patient care for all patients, from infants through geriatrics, that require surgical intervention through nursing diagnosis, development of a plan of care, assessment, implementation of nursing actions, evaluation of patient outcome, goal formation and appropriate modification of patient care. Registered nurses in the Operating Room function within the framework of GMH's mission, policies and procedures. The RN demonstrates appropriate perioperative competencies necessary to provide safe patient care to assigned patients. The nurse is accountable for following set practice standards by advances within education, resource utilization, ethics/risk management and customer relations.
