Registered Nurse - Pediatrics
Introduction :    Aspen Medical has an exciting opportunity for Registered Nurses who specialize in Pediatrics, to partner with us in providing temporary contracted medical services to Military Treatment Facilities throughout the United States. Today’s posting will place you at the primary location of Madigan Army Medical Center. Hospital: Madigan Army Medical Center Location:   United States, Joint Base Lewis-McCord (JBLM) Tacoma, Washington Minimum Qualifications: + Degree /Education: A diploma, Associate, Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate in Nursing from a professional nursing program approved by the legally designated State accrediting agency at the time the applicant completed the program. + Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support : Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) + Experience : One year of qualifying experience in the specialty is preferred + Licensure : Military, civil service, and contract personnel, who require a license, certification, and/or registration to perform their duties must maintain a current, active, valid, and unrestricted license or other authorizing document such as a certification or registration from any U.S. jurisdiction (DOD 6025.13-R). A license is a grant of permission to a health care professional by a recognized licensing agency of a State; the District of Columbia; the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, Guam, or the United States (U.S.) Virgin Islands; or other territory or possession of the U.S. to provide health care within the scope of practice for a specific health care discipline. (Army Regulation (AR) 40-68) Core Duties:   + Provide comprehensive professional nursing care to pediatric patients from ages 1 day to 18 years of age. Experience caring for postoperative patients. The RNs are responsible for pediatric patients throughout the tour of duty and have extensive knowledge and experience and have the skill for concentrated effort and self-motivation to carry out patient care requirements + Initiate intravenous lines as ordered and obtain blood samples for lab and chemistries and other specimens, as ordered + Initiates infection control techniques when caring for all patients but especially for Immune-compromised + Monitor blood pressure, respiration, temperature, and weight + Set up oxygen tanks/wall oxygen and monitor patients while on oxygen + Insert urinary catheters using aseptic techniques + Perform dressing changes/minor wound care, splinting, and operate patient care equipment + Initiate life-saving measures in the absence of a physician to the contract employee’s level of training + Ensure that the rooms are cleaned and stocked between patients + Shall assure content and correctness of all prepared reports and shall sign the document to validate its contents + Submit prepared documents before the end of the assigned shift + Assist with administrative duties within the units/clinic to include patient flow, workload management, filing, answering the phone, and scheduling patients + Ensure that isolation precautions are followed + Participates in an interdisciplinary team approach to ensure quality, timely, and ethical care + Provides ongoing patient education and documentation such as patient's chart + Ensures daily staff assignments are completed + Participates in unit continuous quality improvement activities by collecting and interpreting data, identifying trends, and making recommendations + Performs chaperone and escort duties + Assists patients with nutritional, hygiene, and comfort measures Hours of Performance/Schedule: Hours of Performance/Schedule: The performance (duty) hours of the MTF are as follows: Duty hours will vary by position and location; however, typical duty hours are scheduled between 0700 -1700, Monday through Friday. Hours are subject to change and may include nights and weekends. In the event, the HCW is required to work beyond their scheduled duty hours for any reason, the duty hours will be adjusted within the current pay period; the HCWs shall not work more than 40 hours per week. The performance (duty) hours are as follows: Buckley Space Force Base, Monday through Friday, 0730-1630.
