Registered Nurse - Radiology Per Diem

Position Summary: To be aware of and responsible for the total needs of a patient and to render professional nursing care based on the Nursing Process.
Education, License & Cert: Graduate of an approved registered nurse school of nursing Must possess NY state license as RN CPR Certified Registered Nurse ACLS within I YR of hire
Experience: Minimum 1‐year emergency and/or critical care nursing preferred Minimum 1‐year RN Med/Surg experience required
Essential Functions: 1. Documentation per Policy and Procedure. 2. Patient/family/significant other teaching. 3. Medication Administration, IV Therapy, Blood Administration. 4. Hospital and unit specific Policy and Procedure including basic equipment usage. 5. Demonstrates Nursing Process ‐ ability to independently assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care for all patients at all acuity levels. 6. Emergency preparedness: Includes all aspects of patient safety, CPR defibrillator, external pacemaker, fire and disaster plans, and emergency call systems. 7. Demonstrates basic skills and use of basic unit equipment. 8. Demonstrates competency in contrast media administration and outcome monitoring. 9. Computer skill relevant to job performance. 10. Infection Control. 11. Radiation Safety. 12. IV Conscious Sedation ‐ Pediatric and Adult. 13. VAD access and blood draw. 14. Assist with biopsies. 15. Completion of Epic Training Class including competency exam.
Other Duties: A. Cleaning and restocking rooms daily. B. Ability to deal with stressful situations (e.g. trauma) C. Reports problems occurring with equipment to Coordinator or Director of Imaging. D. Meets regularly at Radiology departmental meetings. E. Acts as a resource person for nursing, medical, and radiology staff. F. Functions as liaison between radiology and nursing units. G. Participates in the development and evaluation of policies and procedures in radiology. H. Ensures daily that all emergency equipment is available and functional. Responsible for the checking of medications. I. Must have ability to react quickly to emergency situations such as patient fainting, patient being unsteady while standing for procedures, if unsafe situation occurs (such as a fire), getting the patient to safety and sounding alarm. J. Must be able to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays, on a scheduled basis. K. Must be able to lift, push, reach, bend, stoop, and walk in order to care for patients. L. Other duties as assigned.
Pay Range for this position is $37.50-$53.06/hour depending on experience.
