Post Op Cardiac (6B), Registered Nurse will care for cardiac, pulmonary, vascular and thoracic surgery patients and families, including lung volume reduction surgery and esophagectomy patients. They will also share cardiac procedural patients with the Medical Surgical Cardiac Unit, including post cath, stent, ablation and pacemaker patients. Many patients have comorbidities in addition to a primary cardiac diagnosis. All beds have on-site telemetry monitoring. The Registered Nurse will provide assessments, teaching, IVs, dressings, analysis of laboratory values and medication administration and management.
QualificationsLicensure/Certification/Registry:
Licensed as RN in State of Illinois.Current BLS/CPR certification per policy.Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Must be able to position and/or transfer an average adult patient and possess gross coordination sufficient to perform other patient care duties as required. Must be able to withstand prolonged periods of standing. Must be able to perform difficult manipulative skills such as IV insertion and IM injections.Environmental working conditions include exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue, contagious diseases and/or radioactive or other potentially hazardous materials.
