Position Summary:

Is responsible for managing individualized direct patient care to hemodialysis patient population by performing duties and responsibilities in accordance to policy, procedure, standards of nursing care, state, and federal regulations.  The RN will work collaboratively with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; provide exceptional patient experience by supporting and educating the patient and family throughout their treatment; functions as the patient advocate while actively following a plan of care responding to changes in condition and/or response to treatments.  

Essential Duties:

Participate in decision-making, teaching, quality improvement activities that will enhance the patient care outcomes and hospital outcomes. Coordinate patient care and treatments with the care team including assessments, planning, intervention, and evaluation for and assigned group of dialysis patients.  Delegate appropriate tasks to direct patient are team.Demonstrate knowledge of dialysis treatments and care of patient receiving dialysis.Demonstrates a time conscious awareness and ability to prioritize during high acuity stations.  Demonstrates ongoing analysis of patient data and documents in electronic medical record.Adjusts or modifies treatment plan as indicated by provider.Provides education to patient and family.Administer medications as prescribed using five right and barcoding; document appropriate medical effectiveness.  Demonstrate ability to initiate or assist in emergency response measures.Ensures correct laboratory collection based on orders received.  Complete mandatory education.  Maintain a good working relationship with the interdisciplinary team. Interacts professionally with patient/family and provides appropriate care and information based on patient status.  Follow Service and Safety Standards. Documentation meeting standards and policies.Manage and operates equipment safely and correctly.Demonstrates ability to be flexible, organized, reliable, and function in stressful situations. Maintain a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and families in accordance to hospital standards.Enhances professional growth and development through participating in education programs, current literature, in-service meetings; how responsibility for own professional practice and ongoing education

Education and Experience:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current Registered Nurse License, in the state of Maine.Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS required. 

Preferred:

1 year of nursing experienceDialysis Experience
