Schedule: Full-time, 12-hour shifts

Shift: Days (position will require rotating call)

The role you’ll contribute:

The Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist – RN performs a wide range of technical skills, which are utilized during a variety of Diagnostic Cardiovascular, Non-ablation Electrophysiology, or Interventional Radiology procedures to provide an efficient, comfortable, and safe examination of all patients. The CVIS RN is proficient in all aspects of angiography, preparation, assessment, documentation and monitoring consistent with the policies, procedures and processes of the Cardiovascular Services department and Hospital Administration. Adheres to the guidelines and standards of professional practice associations. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Nursing Process: Completes timely assessments per Practice Guidelines including physiological, psychological, developmental, sociocultural, spiritual, and life-style factors, including signs of abuse or neglect. Makes appropriate decisions and interventions and nursing diagnosis according to patients actual or potential health conditions or needs. (American Nurses Association [ANA], 2012)

Nursing Process: Based on the assessment and diagnosis, sets measurable and achievable short and long-range goals for the patient (ANA, 2012), assisting in the development and implementation of an individualized plan of care. Prioritizes and completes follow up assessments, evaluates and modifies plan of care as needed. Nursing practice reflects mutual goal setting and whole person care including meeting the needs of the mind, body and spirit. (King, 1995)

Nursing Knowledge: Demonstrates the ability to assess and interpret diagnostic data relative to patient age and condition, including, but not limited to lab results, non-invasive monitoring data and interdisciplinary team notes. Nursing practice reflects the application of knowledge and skills pertaining to all diagnoses, procedures, medications, complications, and equipment associated with unit patient population.

Professional Development: Abides by American Nurses Association Scope, Standards and Code of Ethics. Participates in practice changes, process improvement initiatives and completes all required education by the due date. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department. Exhibits desire to learn, teach, mentor and advance nursing skills.

Follows CDC isolation guidelines, appropriately uses PPE, and performs hand hygiene according to accepted standards of care. Identifies and prepares patient using aseptic technique as dictated by procedure ordered. Exhibits awareness of hazards which may endanger patients. Ensures adherence to regulatory standards and enforces safety regulations. Annually meets all required department specific competencies

Verifies orders and facilitates implementation, communicating with physician as needed. Performs treatments and administers medications according to policy and training. Functions appropriately in clinical emergencies. Evaluates effectiveness of interventions and medications. Performs within the bounds of the applicable scope of practice for Cardiovascular Invasive Lab Technologists. Facilitates timely patient throughput

Produce an accurately written, promptly completed medical record for each patient based on the scope and complexity of the intervention procedure and patient clinical conditions. Maintains authenticity and security of the record, and follows prescribed process for amending documents

Performs effectively in all three procedural roles (circulate, monitor, scrub) required in a therapeutic cardiac laboratory team based on the Society of Invasive Cardiovascular Professionals Scope of Practice. Takes call as rotated/assigned and responds (in hospital) per policy.

Proficiently performs diagnostic coronary procedures, diagnostic electrophysiology procedures, interventional radiology procedures, interventional neuro radiology procedures, peripheral diagnostic and/or interventional procedures.

Learns and upgrades skills. Utilizes knowledge base to assist with orientation, training, and education of new personnel. Provides training for procedures within their competency

Participates in quality and performance improvement activities with the goal to improve patient outcomes. Accurately documents and monitors activities as needed. Participates in unit/service line budgeting processes to ensure a cost-effective, quality-focused environment. Supports quality standards and initiatives set by the department

*Terms: 24-month Full-time Employment Contract Required for Sign-On and Relocation

Sign-on Eligibility:

One (1) year of applicable experience

Internal Candidates and Rehires within 12 months are not eligible

Relocation Eligibility:

Must live 50 miles outside of campus address

Rehires that are less than 12 months from separation date are not eligible

The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:

Minimum qualifications:

Graduate of a school of nursing

Current, valid State of Florida or multi-state license

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification

Knowledge of ECG training and arrhythmia interpretation, cardiovascular and vascular anatomy, and hemodynamic monitoring

Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with patients and their family, hospital staff, nurses, physicians, and other health care professionals

Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures in the health care industry

Ability to monitor patient blood pressure, ECG, and Pulse Oximetry using sophisticated clinical equipment

Preferred qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing

Cardiovascular Lab, Interventional Radiology, Peripheral Lab and/or Electrophysiology Lab experience

Knowledge of electrophysiology diagnostic procedures, interventional radiology procedures, peripheral diagnostic and intervention procedures, and interventional cardiology procedures
