Overview POSITION SUMMARY: Clinical Educator functions autonomously and in collaboration with the health care tem in clinical practice, quality and safety and leadership roles. The clinical educator is responsible for providing appropriate education, which includes assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating orientation, education, competency, and skill-building needs of OSF HealthCare employees to enhance the quality of patient care services. The clinical educator ensures such programs are based on the principle of delivering care appropriate to the patient population served using innovative, high quality education in accordance with best practice and in alignment with the strategic goals and clinical initiatives of OSF. The OB Clinical Educator position helps maintain patient safety, ensure compliance with mandatory education requirements, and support staff competency development. This position is part of the current department staffing model and leadership structure, ensuring that the OB RN team maintains consistent 24/7 coverage while meeting essential regulatory and accreditation standards. This postion helps maintain compliance with Perinatal Center, ILPQC, IDPH, Leapfrog, and Joint Commission, etc requirements, which support patient safety, staff competency, and overall quality of care. Ensure safe, guideline-compliant staffing levels and ongoing staff competency. Support the onboarding, education, and retention of nursing staff in this highly specialized unit. Maintain a backup on-call plan for educational support and emergency scenarios. The OB Clinical Educator plays a critical role in meeting both state and national perinatal quality benchmarks, ensuring compliance, staff development, and optimal patient outcomes. The OB and Women’s Health Service Line has extensive mandatory education and competency requirements that must be tracked monthly and reported monthly/yearly to agencies such as: Perinatal Center (Regional and State) Illinois Perinatal Quality Collaborative (ILPQC) IDPH (Illinois Department of Public Health) Leapfrog Group Joint Commission Many more Qualifications REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Bachelor’s degree Experience: 1 year of direct patient care Licensure/ Certification: Current state license RN. Current American Heart Association healthcare provider BLS. Other Skills/ Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. Strong analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Education: MSN Experience: Previous nursing leadership role. Licensure/ Certification: Clinical specialty, professional development or nursing education.
