The Surgery RN is directly accountable to the OR Charge Nurse and the Director of Surgical Services, and indirectly to the House Supervisor. Here are some qualities we're looking for in our Surgery RN team:

provides direct patient care within the scope of practice in the out-patient services settingcommunicates with physicians, Director of Surgical Services, House Supervisor and co-workers, as appropriate about changes in the patients’ clinical condition, including results of diagnostic studies and symptomatologyable to respond quick and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatmentdirects and guides and other personnel while maintaining standards of careworks with other departments and co-workers to provide quality patient care across the continuum, efficient patient flow and unit maintenance and organizationresponsible for adherence to regulations, standards and hospital or unit policies and procedurescoordinates the care of the patient with the surgeon and anesthesiologistworks with other departments to provide a continuum of care and with co-workers to provide continuous, quality patient care, efficient patient flow and unit maintenance and organizationresponsible for adherence to regulations, standards and hospital or unit policies and proceduresresponsible for participation in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings and in-servicesacts as a resource for other personnel as appropriate Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

current and valid Texas state RN licenseBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), preferredcurrent BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain currentcurrent ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain currentcurrent PALS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain currentCertified Nurse OR (CNOR) Certification (AORN), preferredminimum of one year previous perioperative experienceprevious hospital acute care experience, preferredModerate Sedation competency completed within 30 days of hire
