Scheduled Hours: Hours scheduled Monday through Friday; Occasional Saturdays;

                                Day Shift Hours; No call/holidays;

                                RN must be able to travel to colorectal surgery outreach clinics: (AMG 6 Corners); 

                          Full Time (80 hours a pay period)

Job Summary:

Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion and skilled dialogue, the registered nurse leads efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience. The nurse delivers and coordinates patient-centered care across the continuum to support the successful transition of patients to other healthcare delivery systems or their home communities. The registered nurse is responsible for providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the appropriate utilization of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation, in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures.

As a Registered Nurse in the Digestive Health/Colorectal Clinic you will support the physician(s) in delivering quality health care to ambulatory patients with GI diagnosis. Will perform a variety of clerical tasks to promote continuity of care.

Provides support in the delivery of quality clinical care. Works with designated physicians to provide triage, telephone assessment and home therapies consistent within established guidelines.Provides efficient high-quality service to patients who arrive for appointments or who telephone or visit in person to request appointments or information on tests and procedures, bills and charges, referrals and other mattersDemonstrates leadership activities in day to day activities and functions as a leader/nursing resource and role model for clinical support staffUnderstands order completion and documentation for appropriate charge capture and risk reduction.

Position Requirements:

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing with Current IL RN licenseBSN preferred, ADN acceptable with agreement for nurses with less than 12 months of experience to enroll in BSN completion program to be completed in four years and obtain Advocate Aurora Health (AAH) recognized nursing certification within 2 years of the date of hire or becoming eligible to sit for certification, whichever is later.Nurses with more than 12 months experience in direct patient care must possess a BSN or obtain either BSN within 4 years of hire or obtain an Advocate Aurora Health (AAH) recognized nursing certification within one year of the date of hire or becoming eligible to sit for certification, whichever is later.Must possess at minimum 2 years critical care, telemetry or medical/surgical nursing experienceCurrent AHA CPRFluency in Polish highly desiredFamiliarity with equipment used in ambulatory care.Ability to work varying shifts any day of the week to meet needs of the center.Ability to work under stressful conditions and difficult situations.Work environment includes probability of exposure to adverse, hazardous, or unpleasant conditions while caring for the sickAbility to assist in evacuation of patients in the event of a fire or other disasterRoutinely works with potentially infectious specimens and patientsAbility to respond to patients in a timely manner and access all areas of the unitAbility to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used, with at least one other team member, when available. Unique patient lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
