Registered Nurse (RN) III - Dialysis
Departmental Overview In our Dialysis Unit, we maintain a fast-paced unit to meet the needs of those in the most acute phases of end stage kidney disease. Our Nurses demonstrate highly advanced skills in patient assessment/ intervention, teamwork, and crisis management. We orient new nurses to our unit by providing an 6-10 week orientation with a dedicated preceptor team complemented by a program of critical care courses and a nurse residency program for new graduates. Job Summary RN essential functions include, but are not limited to: collaboration with other health professionals, assessment, analyzing assessment data, establishing goals, planning care strategy, establishing priorities of care, implementing care, delegating tasks safely, providing safe direct and indirect nursing care, evaluating responses to interventions, and performing additional nursing functions in accordance with knowledge and skills acquired beyond basic nursing preparation. Assumes responsibility for dialysis patients assigned Documents patient responses to nursing interventions and prescribed medical treatments; notes all changes in physician order on assigned patients Assists physician in the examination of patients and in performing minor diagnostic procedures and treatment Obtains and monitors physiological data of patients, observes the physiological manifestations of patients and intervenes when necessary Administers medication as prescribed Initiates, regulates and monitors intravenous infusions and blood products Delivers patient care competently Interacts with family and patient in sharing care plan while in the hospital and at time of discharge informs patient and family of hospital procedures Makes referral regarding patient care needs to appropriate personnel Obtains blood sampling on a hemodialysis patient for pre and post dialysis lab draws for an ESRD patient Performs operations dealing with Reverse Osmosis water system Initialization and termination of dialysis with all available access i.e., central lines, grafts, fistulas, Life site ports, peritoneal lines Qualifications Education Diploma or Associate’s degree (ADN) required, Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Experience Previous work history reflecting stable employment. (Above requirements can be met by the equivalent combination of education and experience). Licensure/Certification Current Oklahoma Registered Nurse license or active Multistate RN licensure. Basic Life Support (BLS) training or retraining is required during orientation prior to providing patient care. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required to be maintained thru re-training for duration of employment. Compensation/Benefits $28.84-$46.46/hr depending on previous work experience.
