Registered Nurse (RN) - Medical Respiratory

Our Patient Population:

The Ventilator Telemetry Medical unit at St. Luke's Medical Center is the only unit outside of an ICU that cares for ventilator dependent patients. Provide nursing care to a diverse patient population with respiratory issues including complex health conditions: ventilator dependency, heart failure, diabetes, COPD, wound care, infections, cellulitis, telemetry, and much more.This unique unit provides an excellent opportunity to develop a strong foundation and skills with a higher acuity of ventilated patients and the complexities that these patients experience pathophysiologically, pharmacologically, and post acute care. This is a great unit to develop skills as a new RN and a great precursor to those who may seek critical care nursing in the future.

Develop and expand your practice with the following:

Skills you will develop: Telemetry, ventilators, lab intrepretation and anticipation for vent dependent patients, medically complex patients due to long standing supportive care.Nurse Residency and Preceptor directed orientation.Continuity of patient care through 12-hour shifts, patient centered care and team minded support.Become a valued member of a highly skilled, resilient, and versatile nursing team committed to ensuring the delivery of quality and compassionate healthcare to diverse patient populations.Develop collaborative relationships with a resourceful multi-disciplinary team.Coordinate comprehensive patient care through the nursing process to deliver safe, therapeutic care in accordance with established standards, policies, and procedures.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices.Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA).

Education Required:

Completion of an accredited or approved program in Nursing.

Experience Required:

New Nurse Grads, Newly Licensed RN's and Experienced RN's Welcome!

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.Must be able to:lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.Must be able to:push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.Position requires use of foot pedals on carts or machines.May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
