Registered Nurse Medical Surgical Oncology
Scheduled Hours: 7P-7A; 12 hour shifts
Job Summary:
Using evidence-based practice, clinical decision making, compassion and skilled dialogue, the registered nurse leads efforts to create the safest patient environment and the best patient experience. The nurse delivers and coordinates patient-centered care across the continuum to support the successful transition of patients to other healthcare delivery systems or their home communities. The registered nurse is responsible for providing and coordinating comprehensive patient care through the appropriate utilization of assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation, in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures.
This 25-bed medical-surgical unit provides care for a diverse patient population with a wide range of needs. The unit specializes in the care of geriatric, oncology, and hospice patients, as well as general medical patients. The objective of this fast-paced unit is to manage patient care collaboratively across the professional spectrum to quickly determine the appropriate disposition for our patients. The nurses on unit 5341 work with a high degree of autonomy to aid the interdisciplinary team in making informed decisions regarding admissions, discharges, and patient needs. Our patients present with a wide range of medical diagnoses, oncology diagnoses including chemotherapy administration, as well as patients requiring inpatient hospice. Chemotherapy provider certification is highly encouraged, but is not required, to work on the unit.
