Major Responsibilities:Provides first-aid services to injured employees according to medical directives. Refers employees to emergency service as needed. Assists employees with illnesses, providing basic care, advice, and referral to primary care physicians. Provides CPR and first-aid training for Emergency Response Team and for other appropriate staff.Provides medical oversight, training, continuing education operational support, and resources for onsite staff. Communicates availability of employee assistance program to help employees with work stress, personal issues, and any mental health component of the medical condition.Collaborates with company management regarding job responsibilities, coordination of health services with other company policies, and promoting health education and counseling for employees.Follows up directly with employees to assist with any medically related issues to ensure compliance with plan of care. Contacts all employees on lost time or modified duty at reasonable intervals; keeps supervisors informed of progress.Administers and conducts medical screening, wellness and health promotion programs, which may include: blood pressure, cholesterol, weight, diabetes monitoring, and immunizations such as flu and tetanus vaccines, tobacco use cessation programs, and health education programs.Works with the employer to ensure workplace clinical guidelines are followed and to ensure compliance to regulatory requirements, such as Workers Compensation Law, OSHA, DOT, and the ADA. Works closely with the medical director for additional guidance.Maintains OSHA 300 log for injured employees, filing the WC-12 report with the Corporation's insurance carrier on a timely basis. Maintains and adheres to OSHA record keeping requirements. Maintains and utilizes other reports for quality assurance, tracking, and medical surveillance, as required by employer.Provides case management services by collaborating with medical providers, when appropriate, to ensure employee is progressing to return to work status and resources are efficiently utilized. Provides consultative services on the appropriateness of medical care, rehabilitation programs and educational programs. Provides continuous feedback, evaluation, and metrics on the case management program process and outcomes.Maintains confidentiality of employee health information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines. Maintains medical files for employees within the corporation's facility, including short-term disability, worker's compensation, medical restrictions, and medical history information.Performs plant safety tours and advises management on proper ergonomic practices.Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span and possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age-specific needs, and to provide the care needed as described in the department's policies and procedures. Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:Registered Nurse license issued by the state in which the team member practices, and Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 6 months unless department leader has determined it is not required.
Education Required:Associate's Degree in Nursing.
Experience Required:Typically requires 2 years of experience in clinical nursing including experience in occupational health, ergonomics, or safety training or within an urgent care or emergency room setting.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:Working knowledge of OSHA, Workers Compensation Law, DOT regulations, and ADAGood communication skills to work effectively with physicians, patients and other staff members.Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to engage others, diplomacy, tactfulness, and negotiation skillsExcellent organizational skills and the ability to track and effectively handle multiple projects and issues.Demonstrated ability to work independently and productively. Intermediate computer skills including experience in the use of Microsoft Office or similar products.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.Must be able to:Lift up to 50 lbs. from floor to waist.Lift up to 20 lbs. over the head.Carry up to 40 lbs. a reasonable distance.Must be able to:Push/pull with 30 lbs. of force.Perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.Position requires use of foot pedals on carts or machines.Must have functional vision, speech, and hearing.May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and radiation hazards as well as blood and body fluids; therefore, personal protective equipment must be worn as necessary.Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
