Full-time/Flex - 72 hours bi-weekly (3) 12-hour shifts (1030-2300) or (4) 9-hour shifts (1330-2300).

ChristianaCare, Union Hospital of Cecil County is currently recruiting for PACU RN to work 36 hours per week. The selected RN will be an upbeat PACU Registered Nurse who wants to join a thriving team; passionate about providing excellent clinical outcomes through caring service to our patients and their families. The position will include all areas such as Prep and Recovery for surgery in a fast-paced and constantly evolving hospital environment. In addition, the candidate will possess the skills related to hemodynamic monitoring and support for adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, (e.g. Pacemakers, A lines etc.), pain management (e.g., PCA, epidural), Vascular Access Device management, cardiac monitoring, and airway management.

Responsibilities:

Demonstrates skills and knowledge necessary to provide peri-operative care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, including special needs.

Proficient in acquiring and interpreting medical information and to identify patient needs in order to provide the care vital to safely proceed with surgery. Assists anesthesia with the administration of nerve blocks and provide moderate sedation.

Prep and recover patients receiving general, MAC, moderate sedation, and local anesthesia.

Identifies actual and potential problems for which the patient is at risk.

Administers IV/PO medications in a safe and effective manner and assesses response to interventions.

Communicates and collaborates with the perianesthesia care team in a timely manner to provide a smooth, organized, and efficient flow of patients.

Delegates duties and tasks to other nursing staff, techs, and clerks after assessment of capability and scope of responsibilities.

Requirements:Associate degree in nursing required, BSN preferred commitment to obtaining within three years of date of hire can be considered with relevant experience.At least two years’ of experience as a nurse is required. PACU/Recovery preferred. Will consider of critical care or step-down units.RN licensure to work in MarylandACLS required.PALS required to acquire within 6 months of hire.TNCC preferred.
