Assists the Director/Manager in development, implementation, and evaluation of ongoing service programs which assure quality nursing, and patient care programs consistent with the hospital mission. Utilizes his/her knowledge and skills in giving safe and effective nursing care. Knows the laws and their legal interpretation which influences the practice of nursing. Assists in any other tasks as directed by the specialty coordinator/charge nurse/manager or Director. **The value you’ll bring to the team:** + Responsible for providing continuing education programming for perioperative services. + Provides a comprehensive orientation program for all new members of perioperative services. + Conducts in-service programs as required. + Documents education and training activities. + Actively pursues new developments in education and training methodology and participates in activities that contribute to professional growth and development. + Collaborates with administrative and clinical personnel in identifying the learning needs of individuals and groups. + Promotes a climate for the employee that encourages learning and self-motivation through the application of principles of adult learning. + Coordinates/Participates in department QA/PI program. + Monitors/maintains unit compliance with regulatory, accrediting and hospital policy for patient services, and environmental and personnel safety and infection control. Refusal to respond may result in termination. **The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:** **Minimum qualifications:** + RN from an accredited program of nursing + RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure + 5 years of clinical experience and/or five years of progressively responsible nursing experience relative to the Surgical Services including the Operating Room + Circulating and Scrub experience in Surgical Services Areas including OR and Endoscopy + Certified Operating Room Nurse (CNOR) + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification + Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification **Preferred qualifications:** + Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Nursing + Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification + Demonstrates leadership ability and educator competency + Evidence of this includes, but is not limited to, effective communication skills, ability to deal well with people, ability to problem solve, ability to confront/resolve issues, ability to motivate others, ability to plan, organize, and direct the activities of others + Demonstrates leadership skills and a commitment to education as a methodology for promoting continuous quality improvement in the delivery of patient care and services.
