Position Summary

The operating room staff nurse gives direct and indirect specialized nursing care to patients in surgery. The peri-operative nurse in the circulating role coordinates the care of the patient, is the patient advocate throughout the intra operative experience. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Minimum Education / Licensure / Certifications

Florida R.N. licensure Basic Life Support (American Heart Association)

Minimum Experience

One year as an R.N. in a Operating room setting required

Physical Requirements

Requires walking and standing during most of the time on duty. Frequent reaching, handling of instruments and equipment. Speaking and hearing essential for relaying of information, receiving doctors orders. Visual acuity required to work with records and equipment. Frequently lifting 30-50 pounds. Works beyond scheduled tour of duty in an emergency. Maintains a state of health adequate to perform the duties of the job.
