Summary
Position Highlights:
The Registered Radiologist Assistant (RRA) performs duties within the scope of authority and privileges granted by the Moffitt Cancer Center. Provides patient care under the auspices of the Moffitt Medical Radiology Group, and serves as member of the academic medical enterprise, advancing the institutional mission of contributing to the prevention and cure of cancer.
The RRA in accordance with American College of Radiology (ACR) and the American Society of
Radiology Technologist (ARRT) will assist the radiologist with routine imaging exams, post exam processing, compiling prior imaging results, performing imaging measurements, and assisting the Radiologist with Tumor Board preparation.
This position may also be directly involved with patients undergoing fluoroscopic and/invasive procedures as their training and expertise dictates. They will perform their role under the supervision of the radiologist. The Radiologist Assistant is involved in a wide spectrum of patients with different medical problems, procedures and co-morbidities. They will work independently within a defined scope of practice and under the authority of supervising physician(s) or by specific protocol(s). Other duties as assigned by appropriate Leadership.

Must have interpersonal skills to provide effective customer relations and maintain a collaborative working relationship in an interdisciplinary model. Involved to some degree in division research, presentations, articles or other advanced academic activity Clear verbal and written communications skills Knowledge of Picture Archiving and Information systems (PACS). Competency in all aspects of Radiology, patient positioning, exposure factors and radiation protection. Must have an understanding of anatomy and pathology as how they affect the quality of procedure
Responsibilities:
Perform selected duties and procedures, included in the ACR/ARRT Role Delineation document or other documents governing scope of practice that may be jointly approved by ACR, ASRT and ARRT, as deemed appropriate by the attending and supervising Radiologist Provides input when updating clinical protocols, divisional policies, and procedures with the radiologists, Department Administrator, Operations Manager, and Chief Radiologist. Work with staff and attending/supervising radiologist to assess patient prior to exam/procedure, including chart reviews for risk factors and contraindications and written orders. Provides continuity of care for the patient and interface with fellows and/or attending radiologists on a daily basis regarding testing, treatment, requests or queries from referring services Demonstrate competency with Lawson, Excel, Outlook and other computer systems in the department. Serve as information and communication resources; plan and schedule daily appointments; organize and maintain paper and electronic files; manages projects, conduct research; and disseminate information by using the telephone, mail services, Web sites, and e-mail. Organizes the workday to provide efficient and effective completion of assigned tasks. Meets deadlines. Write patient discharge summary for review and co-signature by radiologist. Bachelor’s Degree *Graduate of accredited RA or RPA program Must be an ARRT Certified radiographer who has successfully completed an advanced academic program encompassing a nationally recognized Radiologist Assistant curriculum and a Radiologist directed clinical preceptorship.
