This person will be responsible for performing respiratory treatment modalities in conformance with established policies and procedures. Communicates appropriate information so that continuity of care can be provided.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Delivers and delegates respiratory care to both inpatients and outpatients that demonstrates both knowledge of facts and sound judgement.
Records and reports to appropriate people observed physical and emotional reactions to holistic plan of care.
Charts precise and specific observations via
Focus Charting, patient assessments, and completes all forms accurately and timely. (Flow sheets, e-MARs)
Identifies and appropriately utilizes multidiscipline approach to facilitate delivery of Care.
Reviews preventive health measures with patient
and family. Reviews physician instructions with
patient and/or family in preparation for discharge and documents understanding of instructions.
Receives and gives a knowledgeable and concise report to others on nursing unit and other departments as necessary to demonstrate awareness of patient’s overall condition.
Seeks knowledge in relation to patient’s condition, disease entity or treatment and reflects this in patient care and documentation and team conference.
Delegates responsibility for care to appropriate members of the multi disciplinarian team based on assessment of priorities of patient care needs and limitations of available personnel.
Knows current condition of each assigned patient and disease process involved.
Responds appropriately to emergency situations.
Follows hospital procedure of placing telephone calls to physician and informs team members of specifics regarding such calls.
Ensures that physician orders are executed promptly, competently and accurately.
Serves as a resource person on Rehab techniques for acute care patients. Serves as Preceptor for new employees.
Performs additional duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Graduate of a certified school in Respiratory Care required.
License in the state of DE or valid temporary license required.
BLS Certification preferred.
Previous hospital experience preferred.
