Takes anatomical images to demonstrate anatomy and pathology.
ResponsibilitiesPerforms ultrasonic scanning procedures and exams, such as abdominal, renal, aorta, thyroid, carotid, pelvic, obstetrical, biophysical profiles, popliteals, vascular, scrotal, breasts, color flow studies.
Consults with the radiologist regarding interpretation of scans and reports.
Interviews and has the authority to release patients, providing all reports and services are technically satisfactory.
Provides written preliminary unofficial reports about the procedures.
Takes representative anatomical pictures. Recognizes normal v. abnormal anatomy. Exhibits knowledge of various pathological processes.
Is responsible for the department’s operational excellence and ensures department delivers quality services in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and professional standards.
Effectively communicates departmental, organizational, and industrial information to staff.
QualificationsMinimum Education
Prefer graduate of an accredited ultrasound program
R.D.M.S. or registry eligible
Minimum Work Experience
Prefer one to two years
Required Licenses/Certifications
Prefer ARDMS certification
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
n Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately
n Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals
n Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred
n Basic computer knowledge is preferred
n Ability to move or lift patients and equipment
n Ability to work independently within general guidelines
n Ability to communicate in English, both orally and written
n Required to comply with OSHA regulations for the N95 respirator training and fit testing
