Western Veterinary Specialist & Emergency Centre is welcoming a full-time RVT to join our Internal Medicine team. This position provides an opportunity to work with top board-certified specialists and the ability to learn about cutting-edge veterinary medicine with particular emphasis on endoscopic and minimally invasive procedures.

Candidates should have advanced technical skills, exceptional client service skills, excellent communication skills, and a special interest in internal medicine.

Schedule: Work a minimum of 4 days per week with flexibility in hours (average days are 730am-5:30 pm). Offering great work-life balance!

Responsibilities

Manage appointments: Starting medical records, history taking, physical examination, medical record keeping, invoicing, prescriptions, patient discharges, etc.

Procedures: Preparation of patients, setting up equipment, perform and monitor anesthesia, assist with procedures i.e. handling instruments and performing biopsies during endoscopy, assisting with surgical or minimally invasive procedures, bone marrow aspirates, joint taps etc.

On Call: Service-specific

Inpatient care: Facilitating treatments, diagnostic work-up and monitoring of critically ill hospitalized patients

Plan, organize, and manage the daily flow of services on the internal medicine service

Communicating with clients and referring hospitals on a regular basis

Qualifications

Registered Veterinary Technician

Previous veterinary experience working in an active hospital in managing multiple patients is required

Ability to think critically and multi-task while working in a fast-paced, stimulating environment with challenging cases.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Proficiency in performing calculations; drugs, constant rate infusions, and unit conversions.

Adaptability and patience are key. Our patients require calm team players who work well with others;

Able to contribute to a multi-disciplinary team approach
