Job Details The Registrar is responsible for facilitating the patient intake and registration process, ensuring accurate and timely entry of patient information into the hospital's electronic health record (EHR) system. This role involves verifying personal, insurance, and medical data, assisting patients with registration forms, and providing excellent customer service. The Registrar also works closely with clinical and administrative teams to ensure smooth patient flow and compliance with hospital policies. Responsibilities: Patient Registration & Data Entry Registers patients upon arrival for scheduled appointments. Verifies and updates patient demographic information, insurance details, and medical history. Accurately enters all required data into the hospital’s EHR system, ensuring completeness and compliance with privacy laws (e.g., HIPAA). Ensures patient identification through proper methods (e.g., ID, insurance card) to prevent errors in patient records. Insurance Verification & Authorization Verify insurance coverage and eligibility through various methods, including phone calls, online portals, and direct communication with insurance providers. Informs patients of any co-pays, deductibles, or out-of-pocket expenses. Obtains pre-authorization or referral as required for services. Patient Assistance & Customer Service Greets patients and their families in a friendly and professional manner, addressing questions or concerns regarding the registration process. Assists patients in completing necessary registration forms, including consent for treatment and financial responsibility. Handles sensitive information with discretion, maintaining patient confidentiality at all times. Billing & Financial Responsibilities Collects co-pays, deductibles, and deposits from patients as required. Explains financial policies, payment options, and assist patients with financial counseling or resources. Issues receipts and maintains accurate records of payments received. Compliance & Reporting Maintains knowledge of and complies with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA, patient confidentiality, and billing practices. Handles and manage patient data with a high level of accuracy and integrity. Requirements: Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate's degree or higher in healthcare administration or a related field preferred. Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a medical office, hospital, or healthcare setting preferred. Previous experience with patient registration, insurance verification, or customer service in a medical office/front desk is highly desirable. Knowledge of health insurance, CPT and ICD10 coding required. A radiology background is preferred. Skills & Abilities: Strong attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy and completeness. Proficient in using electronic health records (EHR) systems, patient registration software, and general office software (e.g., Microsoft Office). Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused approach. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in accordance with privacy laws. Strong organizational and multitasking skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure. Knowledge of insurance verification, medical terminology, and billing practices is preferred. Salary Range USD $21.55 - USD $29.79 /Hr. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
