This role is responsible for assisting patients with the admitting process, which includes the following:
Explaining policies regarding services, charges, insurance billing, and payment of accounts to patients, vendors, and customers.Requesting full or partial payment(s) for services rendered according to collection policies.Receiving payments from patient for services rendered, including co-pays and deductibles, or refers to financial counselors for follow up.Assisting patients and physician clinics with price quotes and pre-authorizations for special programs.Ensuring that all necessary demographic, billing, and clinical information is obtained and entered in the registration system with timeliness and accuracy. Distributing and explaining forms, documents, and educational handouts to patients or family members.Meeting with patient or patient's caregiver before or after admission to exchange necessary information and documentation. Providing explanation of process and addressing concerns and questions.Verifying insurance benefits and authorization as necessary. Communicating with admitting physician's office, nursing unit staff, and/or other appropriate personnel regarding admission to exchange necessary information and determine placement..Must be able to obtain BLS within 60 days of hire and maintain during employment.
