Enters patient/guarantor data in patient accounting system; collects patient signatures on forms; and scans registration documents. Obtains and processes signed physician orders, conducts online insurance eligibility/benefit verification on designated cases, notifies patient/guarantor and collects patient liabilities, and refers appropriate cases to financial counseling for follow-up and consultation. May provide escort and directional support to patients, family members and visitors. Enhances the patient experience throughout all patient interactions, the majority of which are face-to-face. **What the Patient Access Representative Will Need** + Required: High school diploma. Preferred: Associate’s Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Data entry skills (50-60 keystrokes per minutes). Prefer one year of applicable experience in a healthcare provider or payer environment. + Must have fluid experience with various software programs and ability use multiple systems to obtain or validate information during the interview process. + Required: Basic computer skills. Preferred: Working knowledge of medical terminology. **What the Patient Access Representative Will Do** + Ensures patient safety by authenticating patient identity throughout all essential functions. + Performs patient registration tasks including interviewing patient to collect data; creating Electronic Medical Records; validating and entering data related to procedures, tests and diagnoses; confirming patient identity; and preparing patient identification forms. + Assigns appropriate payor or guarantor based on visit/encounter to comply with HIPAA compliance to ensure prompt billing cycle. + Acquires necessary documents including patient identification, insurance cards, consent to treatment, assignment of benefits, release of information, waivers, ABNs, advance directives, etc. Identifies need for patient/guarantor signature based on patient encounter/visit.
