The opportunity
The role is responsible in ensuring the adherence to privacy laws and regulatory requirements including the implementation of privacy and regulatory compliance oversight from all operational activities of The Manufacturers Life Insurance Co. (Phils.), Inc. (“MP”), Manulife China Bank Life Assurance Corp. (“MCBL”), and Manulife Financial Plans, Inc. (“MFP”), towards the Philippines legal framework and Manulife Financial internal policies which have been adopted and conformed according to the prevailing laws and regulation in Philippines.
This role will support Chief Compliance Officer to maintain the integrity and reputation of Manulife by ensuring that it operates within legal and ethical boundaries, while ensuring the timely identification, resolution and documentation of updates on regulatory and compliance issues.
Responsibilities:
Privacy
Policy Development: Creating and updating the privacy policies and procedures to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Act as Business Unit Privacy Coordinator for Privacy Program and responsible to implement the Privacy Risk Management Program. Also, ensuring renewal of company DPO and registration of data processing systems with the privacy regulator.Risk Assessment: Identifying and assessing risks related to the confidentiality and security of personal data.Training and Awareness: Conducting training programs to educate employees and the sales force about privacy policies and best practices.Monitoring and Testing: Implementing systems to monitor compliance and conducting regular testing to identify potential privacy breaches.Incident Response: Managing and responding to data breaches and other privacy incidents, including notifying affected individuals and regulatory bodies.Reporting: Ensuring timely reporting of compliance issues.General Compliance
Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring the organization complies with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies and responsible for Regulatory Compliance Management Program. The role also responsible in providing gap analysis and monitoring the gaps and/or their action plans are closed in timely manner to ensure the Company’s compliance with the prevailing regulations.Risk Management: Conducting risk assessments to identify areas of potential non-compliance and developing strategies to mitigate these risks.Policy Implementation: Developing and implementing compliance programs, including policies, procedures, and controls including to maintain and preserve the accuracy of Archer Database and Regulatory Reporting system under SharePoint Database Compliance so that the Database Compliance will always indicate the latest fact.Training and Education: Providing training to employees on compliance-related topics and promoting a culture of compliance within Manulife Philippines to enhance the awareness of the employees upon the implementation of compliance matters upon the applicable laws in Philippines and any internal company policies.Monitoring and Reporting: Monitoring compliance with internal policies and external regulations and reporting any issue to Chief Compliance Officer including carrying out Compliance QA and Testing Program that conducted by Local Compliance and Regional Compliance. Also, filing of monthly report to the Credit Information Corporation (CIC).Others: Assisting ad hoc projects as deemed necessary by Chief Compliance Officer.
