The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) has a need for a Regulatory Compliance Coordinator to support our government customer located in Silver Spring, MD.
DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Be the principal liaison between VSP, the IACUC, and the Animal Research Compliance Office (ARCO) and support operations of those components.
+ Collect, store, and distribute regulatory documentation required by DoD regulation and local SOPs.
+ Process work using word processor.
+ Wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
+ Work independently, according to deadlines.
+ Frequent interaction with high level faculty members and staff.
+ Conduct on-site visits to laboratories and animal housing locations to ensure compliance with IACUC- approved animal activities.
+ Assist staff and investigators with correcting deficiencies noted during inspections.
+ Assist the VSP in preparing for compliance inspections and site visits.
+ Conduct reviews of animal use protocols.
+ Maintain databases, prepare and distribute reports on compliance activities.
+ Consolidate and maintain all documentation associated with vivarium activities.
+ Oversee management of SOPs, including working with authors to appropriately revise and format SOPs, working with Safety to ensure appropriate risk assessments are completed, and ensuring that SOPs are revised on an appropriate review cycle.
REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
+ AALAS certification at the LATg level Required.
+ Desired - BS/BA
+ Desired - Certified Professional in IACUC Administration (CPIA)
+ Education and experience may be substituted for certification with COR approval.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
+ A minimum of three (3) years of experience in an animal facility of similar size and scope is desired.
+ Must have detailed knowledge of federal regulations and policies related to use of animals in research.
+ Must have working knowledge of databases, spreadsheet operations, and file management.
+ Must have strong interpersonal skills to support frequent interaction with high level faculty members and staff.
+ Must have a high degree of attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
+ Must have strong verbal and written communication skills and good customer service skills.
REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:
+ Must be a U.S. Citizen
+ Must pass NACI background check
