Primary Function: Under the direction of the Director of Compliance, research and analyze legal and regulatory issues in order to provide executive summary and recommendations. Monitor and research federal and state laws and regulations for compliance trends and changes that affect business and operations. Provide guidance to the director on such trends and changes as needed. Various administrative duties.
Essential Duties:

Conduct regulatory research, including corporate organizational issues and corporate filings.Fulfill product filing requirements, premium and claim processing requirements as required on a state by state basis.Assist in the maintenance of a comprehensive compliance program, including related records and files, while developing Subject Matter Expert level knowledge of the company’s compliance needs.Proactively and on a regular basis, research and compile state guidelines. Coordinate with Compliance team to monitor, review, summarize and distribute reports and other information on law or regulatory changes to all affected departments as warranted.Acknowledge receipt of all complaints; enter complaint information accurately; obtain all required and relevant information from all company files draft a complete response to the complaint, respond to any follow-up inquiries, and prepare quarterly and annual complaint analysis reports.Fill all policy forms, applications advertising and related documents with the relevant state departments of insurance; maintain records of said filings, monitor all state responses and the timeliness of the company’s re-submittal, and notify all interested parties once submittals have been approved.File all corporate reports, including Annual Market Conduct Reports, Data Match Reports, Holding Company Forms, as well as all other state-mandated reports. Maintain all corporate records to include such reports, licenses, licensure files, and all other related records and documents.Maintain complete records of all subpoenas, discovery and other requests for information and coordinate responses with relevant departments of the company.Research, write, edit and proofread compliance-related articles and bulletins for internal use and for distribution to the company’s producers in both paper and electronic form.Coordinate internal corporate compliance-related educational efforts (Anti-Fraud related training, etc.); track progress of these efforts for submission as warranted to state departments of insurance.

Education/Training Requirements:
Bachelors degree and/or Legal Assistant/Paralegal designation or the equivalent experience in an insurance-centric working environment. Insurance, Regulatory and/or Compliance experience preferred.
Skills/Required Knowledge/Tools:
Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must demonstrate the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines and manage time efficiently. Must demonstrate the ability to understand and use legal research with training. Must possess intellectual curiosity and the ability to learn new disciplines rapidly. Basic understanding of life insurance is required. Must have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, OneNote and Excel) and SERFF. Westlaw and other internet legal search experiences a plus.
