Major Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
Strategic (10%)Manage compliance with hazardous waste regulations, related SOPs/policies, PFR process
Facilitate implementation of new/changed hazardous waste regulations.
Support client specific requirements for waste handling, recycling and sustainability.
Maintain all documentation related to hazardous waste management including all shipment documentation and required inspections.
Participate as required in all regulatory inspections involving any government agency including federal, state and local regulations
Audit facility hazardous waste program, provide feedback to operations and assist in development of corrective action plan tracking
Partner and collaborate with with internal stakeholders (i.e. operations, safety, client services) to support regulatory compliance functions within the facility
Partner and build relationships with local, state and federal agencies during audit/inspection support.
Operational (60%)Execute and maintain all aspects of the regulatory program including the hazardous waste program and food/safety sanitation.
Physically move and sort boxes/containers of hazardous waste containing consumer packaged product for destruction
Operate material handling equipment such as manual pallet jack and battery-operated forklift to move pallets of boxed hazardous waste
Prepare hazardous waste for ground transportation shipment to TSDF facilities including labeling and closing containers
Prepare and sign paperwork for hazardous waste shipments including obtaining appropriate Department of Transportation certification for ground transportation shipping
Scan product into hazardous waste scanning platform
Audit facility processes for regulatory compliance
Project Management (10%)Assist with development and monitoring of hazardous waste projects and initiatives including but not limited to monitoring recall waste management.
Influence (10%)Assist in providing regulatory training to facility associates.
Support and provide direction to operations on regulatory matters.Support the Safety and Fire Safety program in the facility.
Analytical (10%)Provide hazardous waste information to operations to support hazardous waste program compliance as well as client based specific requirements.
Maintain Department of Transportation/DOT HazMat Ground Shipper certification
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred or relevant years of experience
Certifications - CHMP (Certified Hazardous Materials Professional) or CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Management) in place of Bachelor’s Degree acceptable
6-8 Years work experience and/or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to complete the major responsibilities/essential functions of the position.
Travel time 25-50%
