The salary range for this role is:

$73,083.69 - $124,154.22

Responsibilities:

This position has three general functions as part of the Regulatory team:

Provide regulatory support across the DMFI enterprise including development of technical data for labels (i.e. nutrition facts panel, ingredient declaration, standards of identity, claims), for other packaging (cases, displays, pallets), and for entering/maintaining Regulatory information in DMFI and customer data bases.Review and approve all consumer and customer communications (i.e. advertising, promotions, and digital content).Help develop and maintain regulatory technical systems (i.e. SAP, RQS, Genesis) to support DMFI Regulatory activities, which includes helping develop Regulatory policies and procedures to be in compliance with evolving state and federal regulations (i.e. National Bioengineered Food Disclosure, Nutritional Label Reform (NLR), Organic, emerging novel claims, packaging legislation, bottle bill).Coordinate and execute timely Regulatory approvals for labels and promotional materials with Marketing, Product Development, Legal and Creative Services.Proactively advise the company on potential regulatory labeling challenges and opportunities based on the regulations in order to meet the marketing objectives and consumer expectations. Develop compliant National Bioengineered Food Disclosure and NLR label content across all of Del Monte’s businesses and Store Brands.Work with supervisor to establish and gain senior management alignment on DMFI and Store Brand customers Regulatory standards and practices in labeling and claim substantiation.Provide Regulatory guidance, review, and approval in the cross-functional development of all formulas under training / guidance of supervisor to ensure formulas conform to label declarations (i.e. standards of identity, nutritional information, ingredient legends declarations, and product claim substantiation).Review and approval of all labels and consumer communications to ensure that product labeling complies with all relevant food labeling regulations.Provide Regulatory response to inquiries by customers relating to labeling and/or allowed use of ingredients in Del Monte products.Development and approval of labels for export and import with guidance from supervisor.Maintain and update ingredient-based nutritional databases for Genesis and PDM and assist with ongoing training of cross-functional personnel in the use of Genesis and PDM.Provide regulatory review and approval on Controlled Process Changes (CPC’s) that relate to proposed formula/labeling deviations with feedback from supervisorProvide regulatory guidance and approval in managing label changes relative to formula updates under training/guidance from supervisor to maximize regulatory compliance, while also minimizing labeling scrap and production complexity.Support data export to DMFI website and non DMFI database (i.e. GDSN, Aspect).Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

BS in Nutrition or Food Science or related fields.3-4 years of food labeling experience or other related fields such as quality assurance, or product development. At least a minimum of 2 years of recent US (FDA and/or USDA) food regulatory labeling experience. Labeling experience in processed foods sold to consumers at retail preferred.Intermediate knowledge of FDA and USDA labeling regulations.Ability to quickly learn and deftly use Del Monte technical, data base, and routing systems (i.e. RQS, SGS(Southern Graphics Solutions), GDSN (Global Data Sync Network), SAP).Intermediate user of Genesis software and PDM for nutritional calculations, ingredient declarations, claimmanagement, etc.Rudimentary knowledge of international (Mexican, Canadian, South American, Asian) labeling laws, label layout requirements, and international regulatory experts for consultation is helpful.Ability to execute complex calculations by interpreting multiple regulations, and or federal guidance documents, for substantiating fruit/veg/tomato/juice serving equivalencies and product claims for DMFI brandsand Store Brands.Proven ability to work cross functionally and to coordinate with customer technical resources.Domestic travel up to 10% required at times.
