Your Opportunity
Stantec is currently seeking a Regulatory Specialist Electrical Designer hybrid to provide technical support on a long-term project in Virginia. A portion of this position will be part of Stantec’s Environmental Services team that provides the full range of expertise needed to address a variety of permitting and approval requirements. This position also includes electrical distribution design that will be overseen by Stantec’s Power group.
Your Key Responsibilities
Complete desktop reviews of projects. Coordinate permitting for railroad, roadway and utility crossings. NJUNS database input (Joint use tracking system for poles) Conduct field audits of existing overhead and underground facilities associated with electric distribution system. Prepare field notes and preliminary designs. Analyze electrical load data and perform calculations to determine size and location of electric distribution facilities based on engineering standards, existing or proposed easements, Right of Way permits, and operational needs and requirements. Develop detailed electrical designs including calculations in coordination with Stantec designers and our client. Support and ensure implementation of Health, Safety, Security, & Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work and coordinate with HSSE professionals during the execution of all phases of project planning and implementation. Communicate and collaborate within Environmental Services and other Business Lines (Power and Transportation/ROW) to ensure consistency in project execution. Ability to use MS Office and Adobe Acrobat products proficiently and creatively to problem-solve and communicate. The ideal candidate has the ability to work with initiative, professionalism, and confidentiality, and is able to work independently, multi-task, and adapt to change in a very dynamic environment. The position requires an A.S. degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, Drafting and Design or similar. Engineering Technology or comparable work experience. Technical Degree acceptable with training/experience related to electrical distribution systems.This is an entry level position; however, the ideal candidate will have experience in the workflow processes described above.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.
