The Bureau of Health Care Practitioner Regulation is specifically responsible for the policy making and programmatic activities related to licensure of health care practitioners and regulated facilities in the state of Florida. The incumbent in this position will perform varied and complex professional and regulatory activities, including detailed research to answer inquires from persons located throughout the United States and other foreign countries who are currently licensed or seeking licensure in Florida as a health care practitioner in relation to the Board of Medical Therapies. The incumbent in this position will be required to understand Board, Division and Department rules and Florida Statutes. The incumbent will be required to exercise independent judgement and initiative in carrying out assignments to completion by communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing. The incumbent will work in a professional, administrative setting and perform duties similar to school registrars, medical records, billing, or coding specialists; customer service representatives, executive or administrative assistants, data entry clerks, or other positions who ensure compliance with regulations or rules and provide professional assistance to members of the public. Your duties and responsibilities may include: + Prepares Board and Council meeting agendas for three(3) professions (minimum of 12 meetings per year), the three professions are Dietetics and Nutrition, Physical Therapy, and Respiratory Care Responsibilities would include the following: Independent planning and formulation of all in-person and conference call meeting agendas, under the coordination of the Program Operations Administrator (POA), coordinating with Board/Council staff, attorneys and unit management to ensure submission of all required agenda items; ensuring all agenda material is compiled and organized according to unit standards; timely publication of electronic agendas and addenda to Board/Council members and staff; timely publication of required pre and post meeting information (e.g., agendas, FAR notices, public books and audio) on the applicable profession’s website; preparation of meeting minutes for all assigned professions; timely review and filing of post-meeting Board/Council orders; and timely completion of all other assigned post-meeting tasks. + Serves as back-up to POA regarding functions related to Probable Cause Panel meetings. Responsibilities would include the following: ensuring PSU staff is kept current on PCP meeting dates and panel member appointees; communicating with PSU staff, as needed, to ensure PCP agendas are timely published to PCP members and staff; reviewing PCP agendas for public cases and ensuring PSU provides the public agenda and public book for timely posting to the applicable Board’s website; sending out meeting reminders and notifying POA of any quorum issues; and opening up and recording PCP meetings when the POA or ED are unavailable. + Monitors zzzz Feedback email boxes for Physical Therapy and Respiratory Care professions. Distributes emails to the appropriate Board staff and ensures a response is provided within 24 hours. Reports failure to respond to emails within 24 hours to the POA. + Serves as subject matter expert for processors when confronted with situations that are outside the norm. Handles problem applications. + Performs quarterly review and maintenance of Board/Council websites. + Provide input in the formulation and revision of rules and policies, input in changes to the applications or website for Respiratory care and Physical Therapy. Responds to telephonic and other verbal communications regarding policies, procedures, regulations, and operations of the office, board and department. + Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Preference will be given to those who meet the following minimum requirements: + High School Diploma or equivalent AND 2 years’ experience that includes data entry, document preparation, computer software use, evaluating legal documents or evaluating for compliance with regulations, customer service, or handling sensitive information. + College education can substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
