Job Description

General Summary

The Patient Care Clinician, under limited supervision, is responsible for the assessment of patients/residents including the development, evaluation, and modification of the plan of care. This person interprets and performs complex patient care procedures specific to their area of expertise. Clinicians are members of the Care Team and Support Team who have accountability to function as a team to accomplish patient/resident outcomes identified in the pathway/plan of care.

The Occupational Therapist will render occupational therapy services to inpatients/residents and outpatients, planning and conducting screening/assessment, developing treatment plans, delivering or supervising the delivery of treatment intervention and education for the purpose of enhancing insight into disease; directing the patient’s/resident’s participation in selected tasks to restore, reinforce, and enhance the physical and mental performance, learning, skill development and productivity to improve self-care, cognitive and psychosocial skills and abilities, and improve the patient’s/resident’s overall functional status in the home/work/community environment, and to diminish or correct pathology/deformity including the fabrication of orthotics. The Occupational Therapist will function as an multidisciplinary team member within the hospital/rehab facility/psychiatric units, and in interactions with other health care providers. Patients/residents served include all age groups (Infant through Adult-Geriatric), but primarily Adult-Geriatric.

QualificationsBS in Occupational Therapy, or its equivalent required; MS degree preferred.Possesses current Maryland State license, or is eligible.One year of acute/subacute experience in adult neuromuscular/musculoskeletal dysfunction, and splinting in an acute/subacute/outpatient care environment preferred.Knowledge of Microsoft Windows or successful completion of a hospital training program required.Additional Information
