Summary: Administers prescribed therapy programs to restore function, prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of body part: helps patients reach maximum performance while learning to live within their limits of his/her capabilities. Assists in training therapists, leads therapist assistants, supportive personnel and students in their performance of patient/resident care services and treatments. Manages Therapy Student Program. Education: In addition to the skills normally obtained through completion of high School education, a Bachelor of Science degree or Master’s degree in rehab therapy from an accredited institution is required. Licensure: Current Rhode Island Physical Therapist licensure. Experience: 3 or more years of experience preferred with supervisory skills recommended. Working Conditions, Physical Environment and/or Safety Requirements : Clean, well vented working area. Exposed daily to disagreeable odors, sights of bodily wastes and contaminated equipment, May be exposed to infectious disease and or bodily harm from combative patients. Required to carry, push; pull equipment, as well as turn, transfer, and assist patients with ambulating and/or therapeutic exercise. Must meet annual safety training require per hospital policy.
