Minimum Qualifications Central New York Psychiatric Center is currently recruiting for a Rehabilitation Counselor 2 to provide rehabilitative services to individuals with mental illness. Candidates from outside or within State Service can be considered for hire under the Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement – Statewide (NY HELPS) program as Rehabilitation Counselor 2 if they have:• Bachelor’s degree in a human service field and• 3 years of professional experience providing vocational, psychosocial, or rehabilitative/habilitative services in an agency primarily serving individuals diagnosed with developmental disabilities, mental illness, or addictions.• Substitution: Master’s degree in a related field can substitute for one year of specialized experience.ORCandidates from outside and within State Service can be considered for a competitive class appointment if they are reachable on the current Rehabilitation Counselor 2 eligible list.ORCandidates from within State Service can be considered for transfer to a competitive class position if they have one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.ORIn accordance with Section 52.7 of the Civil Service Law, this notice advises all employees of the Office of Mental Health of our intention to conduct a non-competitive promotion examination for the position of Rehabilitation Counselor 2 at Central New York Psychiatric Center.
