Rehabilitation Tech - Acute Care - PRN
Under direct supervision, prepares selected patients and equipment for physical therapy services, assists in administering treatments, observes patients during treatments, reports status changes to a therapist, and orders department supplies, ensuring sufficient stock.

Education

HS Diploma or GED

Experience

3 months healthcare experience preferred

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk seventy percent (70%) of the time when assisting in patient care activities. Ability to use proper body mechanics to lift, push or pull up to 50 lbs.

Working Conditions

Normal patient care environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, and temperatures.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

Assists with the following under the direct supervision of a therapist or an Occupational Therapist Assistant: (within guidelines of Md. OT or PT Board of Practice)Gait and ambulationFunctional activitiesTransfersRoutine follow-up of specific exercisesApplication of hot or cold packsAssists a physical therapist assistant when more than one individual is required to ensure the safety and welfare of the patient during ambulation, transfers, or functional activities.Performs the following activities without the direct supervision of a therapist, Physical Therapist Assistant, Occupational Therapist Assistant, or other designated provider:Prepping room and setting up equipment. Transporting patients to and from treatment areas;Prep of patient room or treatment space with accordance with therapy ready standardsEncouraging, guiding and helping recurring therapy patients to prepare for therapy session Assist patients with personal hygiene Keeps track of ADL supplies and DME; Cleans, maintains exercise and DME equipment.Assist with  department errands or small projects as assigned.Take patient vitals Provides administrative support by:Notifying nursing units of inpatient treatment times;Performs office duties as needed.Performs and presents needed audits for LMS metricsFaxing; copying; printing, scanningAssists taking calls from patients, physicians, GBMC staff; monitoring voicemail;Medical Supplies Assists in maintaining departmental inventories, searching for DME equipment throughout hospitalRetrieves supplies for patient as requested in a manner that supports infection control standardsObservant to billing standards for suppliesPrepares equipment and treatment areas.Reinforcing patient practice of therapist assigned activity, patient transfers, guarding Falls Risk patients when walking, Being observant and reporting any apparent issues or referring patient to therapist to answer questions patient verbalizes about condition

Pay Range

$15.92 - $22.07

Final salary offer will be based on the candidate's qualifications, education, experience and alignment with our organizational needs.
