Reimbursable Billing Technician
Summary The incumbent serves as a specialist in the Chief Operating Officer Division. The CPAC is a regionally consolidated business entity established to enhance revenue operations throughout the VHA network by standardization and consolidation of functions and the integration of VHA and Industry best practices. Responsibilities ***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Duties include the following: Exercises management responsibility for all Tricare/ChampVA and all other non-MCCF (Medical Care Cost Fund) activities for the facilities assigned to the CPAC. Serves as a liaison between CPAC and the facilities for all aspects of medical care billing and collection activities to include Department of Labor (OWCP), fugitive felon, black lung, sharing agreements and ineligible patients. Implements and manages many aspects of the billing of Tricare/ChampVA and non-MCCF from insurance entry to claim payment or cancellation. Performs analysis of workload to forecast future needs of the CPAC and initiates the necessary action to ensure efficient service delivery. The incumbent is responsible for gathering and reporting CPAC, VISN, national, regional and per facility diagnostic measures and facility performance matrices. This position runs reports to get everything collected with Tri-Care and ChampVA. This position will be doing any medical billing that does not go into the MCCF fund. Incumbent strategically and actively manages the reports ensuring that all detailed reporting is completed timely, accurately, and efficiently. Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-06 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include: 1) Manages information and analytical systems (such as IDES portal, Worker's Compensation portal) to evaluate and enhance the quality of service provided. 2) Obtains and verifies insurance information is correct and updated in VistA. 3) Makes contact by telephone to explain the difference between Veteran vs. TRICARE/CHAMPVA benefits. 4) Creates cost shares when necessary to implement accounts receivable guidelines and to resolve problems. 5) Assures that finished work and methods used are technically accurate and in compliance with established instructions, methods, procedures, and deadlines. Physical Requirements: The work is performed mainly in a sedentary manner. Occasional walking, standing, reaching, and bending are required. The carrying of light items such as paper, folders, and files between desk and storage is common. The work requires long periods of interaction at computer terminals.
