We are currently seeking a **Relay/Equipment Performance Tech – SCADA** to join our team.
Under the supervision of the PERT General Foreman, this position will be responsible and accountable for the completion of in-field jobs on an assigned or emergency basis.
Field jobs consist of Calibrating, Installing, and Maintaining SCADA (System Control and Data Acquisition) Remote Terminal Units, station line and bus metering equipment, station alarm annunciators and equipment communication systems which will ensure the efficient operation of transmission, and substation monitoring and communication systems. Responsible for performing work involving a high degree of complexity, including troubleshooting, repairing, overhauling, calibrating, and maintaining components of SCADA and communication systems, and other duties as assigned. Apprentices are required to work under the direct supervision of a lead technician and complete required training courses.

**Essential Functions & Responsibilities:**
+ Competent with power and hand tools.
+ Able to read and understand drawings, schematics, and operating instructions and manuals relating to substation transmission equipment.
+ Safety and environmental knowledge.
+ Effective verbal and written communication skills.
+ Be available during off-duty hours.
+ Ability to verbally communicate effectively and accurately.
+ Work within all applicable safety rules.
+ Wear all required PPE, which includes but not limited to: FR Clothing, Hard Hat, Safety Glasses, Safety Toed Boots, Harness.
+ Work both independently and in group settings.
+ Drives for an extended period of time to and from the job site.
+ Able to work and retain access to all customers assets, including but not limited to substations, ROW’s, facilities, vehicles, and equipment.
**Minimum Qualifications:**
+ Must be 18 years of age or older.
+ An Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Engineering Technology, Engineering Technology, or other accepted equivalent degree from a recognized College or University.
+ _College transcripts will be required to ensure minimum courses have been successfully completed. Management shall have the exclusive right to determine degree equivalency._
+ Knowledge in the operation and maintenance of Electrical Transmission stations and lines.
+ Familiar and able to use Microsoft, strong computer and troubleshooting skills.
+ Able to
+ work in energized substations and power plants containing voltages up to and including 345,000 volts.
+ work with hands above head for extended periods of time.
+ walk, climb, and work from ladders, or at various heights, on uneven and slippery surfaces, performing mentally/physically demanding work under unfavorable weather conditions while handling equipment or material.
+ lift, move and maneuver heavy weights of up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis.
+ pull, push, bend, stoop and kneel.
+ Possesses the following:
+ cognition to concentrate on the work for an 8 to 10-hour day.
+ endurance necessary to perform these duties throughout a standard eight (8) or ten (10) hour day according to the schedule.
+ Ability to work long hours and overtime during holidays, emergencies, weekends, etc. Subject to call out work
**License & Certifications:**
+ Valid driver's license
+ Medical card or able to obtain one within 6 months of hire
**Physical Requirements:**
+ **RARE:** (less than 10%): climbing poles, climbing stairs
+ **OCCASIONAL** (up to 33%): sitting, stooping, kneeling, squatting, body twisting, crawling, carrying, pulling, pushing, climbing ladders, balancing, lifting up to 50 lbs.
+ **FREQUENT** (up to 66 %): standing, walking, climbing on/off truck, gripping, lifting over 10 lbs. to 50 lbs., reading, reaching, range of motion, depth perception, color vision, lifting, lifting up to 10 lbs.
+ **CONTINUOUS** (up to 100%): sense of touch, manual dexterity, speaking clearly, seeing distant, seeing, hearing-speech range
**Safety**
Due to the inherently dangerous nature of the industry and requirements to work with or around hazardous equipment, employees must have sufficient eyesight to judge distance/coordination of equipment and tools, be able to maintain attention and concentration for extended periods, be able to withstand exposure to all kinds of weather while completing work assignments, be able to wear personal protective equipment as necessary, be able to enter and exit a vehicle numerous times a day, have the endurance necessary to traverse various terrain, be capable of performing job duties throughout a standard 8- or 10-hour day, be able to communicate with others, read, write, and comprehend written/verbal job instructions and information, and communicate and handle conflict professionally.
**Hazards:**
+ Works alone in energized high voltage electrical substations up to 345,000 volts.
+ Must work in close proximity of energized electrical equipment up to 345,000 volts.
+ Exposed to static and induced voltages.
+ Exposed to Electric and Magnetic Fields (EMF).
+ May be exposed to Radio Frequency (RF) and Microwave Frequency.
+ Works around hazardous equipment.
+ Works with energized parts or equipment.
+ May be subjected to high intensity and stressful situations.
+ Work in all temperatures (cold, snow, ice, wind, rain, heat).
+ Exposed to traffic and mobile equipment.
+ Works on construction sites with uneven terrain.
+ May be exposed to nature, i.e., irritating plants and biting or stinging insects.
+ Work may be performed at varying heights above ground, in manholes, and/or in confined spaces.
