Description
We are in search of a skilled Release of Information Specialist to join our healthcare team in Gilbert or Chandler, AZ. This role is crucial in managing the release of patient information in accordance with all applicable state and federal confidentiality statutes and regulations. The individual will be the primary contact for written and phone requests for patient information and will assist in managing patient records in a secure and confidential manner.
Responsibilities:
• Handle written and phone requests for patient information from various parties, including physicians, healthcare facilities, patients, and their families.
• Ensure the release of patient information is in compliance with all applicable state and federal confidentiality statutes and regulations.
• Assist in managing patient medical records, ensuring they are accurate and up to date.
• Aid HIM leadership in responding to all patient requests for amendment or restriction of medical records, alternative/confidential communications, and accounting of disclosures pursuant to state/federal requirements.
• Maintain strong communication skills to effectively interact with various parties.
• Utilize workstation support skills to manage patient data efficiently.
• Uphold a high level of confidentiality when dealing with patient information.
• Leverage leadership skills to assist in managing the patient registration process and ensure smooth operations.
• Stay updated with healthcare regulations and statutes, applying them as necessary in managing patient information.
Requirements
• Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, for effective interaction with patients, medical staff, and other healthcare professionals
• Proficiency in Workstation Support to manage digital records and facilitate smooth operations
• Strong phone presence to handle calls with patients, insurance companies, and other departments
• Demonstrable leadership skills to guide and inspire team members
• Thorough understanding of healthcare regulations and statutes to ensure compliance
• Familiarity with facility management for efficient coordination of patient care
• Strict adherence to confidentiality protocols, especially when handling sensitive medical records
• Knowledge of HealthCare.gov, TRICARE, and NIS systems to assist patients with insurance matters
• Proficiency in HIM (Health Information Management) systems to ensure accurate and timely patient data management
• Understanding of accounting functions to manage billing and payment processes in the healthcare setting.
